Many questions have been raised about the role of art within a contested society as well as the role of an organisation like Manifesta within the Russian Federation. The slight subtleties between making work politically or making political art are two positions that offer potentially different strategies to responding to the current geo-politics of Russia and what it means to participate in a biennial like Manifesta in this time.
The discussion will be chaired by Iara Boubnova and will include exhibiting artists l Pavel Pepperstein, Alevtina Kakhdze, Thomas Hirschhorn and art critic Hans den Hartog Jager
Date and venue of the event: 27 June from 16:00 to 17:30, General Staff Building: Lectorium
Palace Square 6/8, St. Petersburg
