Yasumasa Morimura graduated from the Kyoto City University of Arts (1978). His exhibitions in Japan include shows held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto (both 1998) and in Yokohama (1996). He exhibited at SITE Santa Fe, NM, USA, and the Japan Society in New York in 2002. Other international exhibitions include White Cube, London (1999); the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston (1997); and the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA, USA (1992). In 1998 he was selected as an artist for the Aperto section of the Venice Biennale. In 2013 exhibition “Theater of self” in Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburg. Currently artistic director for Yokohama Triennale 2014.
