Cartoon made by local children

Francis Alÿs as the hero of a children's cartoon inspired by his work for MANIFESTA 10.

At the beginning of August, Children from the Charitable Center for families and children from the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg alongside the animation studio 'Da' and Manifesta staff visited the exhibition in the General Staff Building twice, sat for a while in Alÿs’ 'Lada Kopeika' in the yard of Winter Palace and wrote and recorded music with Paola Pivi's M10 project at the Kuryokhin centre of contemporary art.

In the breaks between the contemporary art the amicable mixed-age team invented, drew and animated a cartoon, which retells and reinvents the story of Francis’ journey. It transpired that the Belgian artist's journey was full of incidents – he found and returned a lost child, worked with beavers and picked up strange companions.

The premiere of the cartoon named Adventure №238 took place on 15 of August in the Education space of General Staff Building
